Sky Scan Continues to Offer Learning Resources to Schools and interested individuals.

Updated February 14, 2004

Edmonton AB - December 10, 2002

Sky Scan is pleased to welcome Balwin School, 7055 - 132 Avenue, as the latest to join our pilot project. Renée Parker is teaching one Science 9 class this semester, with two more to start after January.

The Balwin Radio Observatory was installed on Friday December 6, and features a three-element Yagi antenna of new design by Sky Scan volunteer Guy Almberg. The station will be put to the test during this weekend's Geminid meteor shower.

In the second semester, Renée's Science 9 classes will observe June's daytime meteor showers, primarily the Arietids and zeta Perseids.

The Sky Scan Array now consists of five radio telescopes spread over a 30 km arc across Edmonton's north side.
